Student Financial Loans Scheme
The Student Financial Loan Scheme is designed to assist you if you come from an educationally disadvantaged background. Support for Learning will assess each loan application individually. Loans are provided based on financial hardship to help you through a challenging period.
Student Support Loan
The Student Support Loan can help you purchase study-specific resources related to your current studies, including internet setup, uniforms and protective equipment, learning materials, and travel or accommodation costs related to your course (such as Residential Schools).
If you are a first-year student in your first trimester, you may be eligible for an interest-free loan of up to $500, which must be repaid within six (6) months. If you have a satisfactory academic history at UniSQ and are studying in at least your second teaching period, you may be eligible for an interest-free loan of up to $1000, to be repaid within twelve (12) months.
How to apply
Please read through the Student Financial Loans Scheme Important Information (123KB) thoroughly before applying for a loan to ensure you understand the eligibility criteria, conditions, penalties and application process.

STEP 3. Keep an eye on your UniSQ emails (umail) for any requests for additional supporting documentation
STEP 4. Attend appointment with Student Advisor (Wellbeing)
STEP 5. Your loan will be assessed, and a decision will be communicated to you via your UniSQ email (umail)
Supporting documentation
Supporting documentation is also required in order to apply for a loan. You must include (if applicable):
- copy of Student ID card or driver's licence or passport
- Centrelink documents
- employment payslips
- rental receipt, lease agreement or letter from landlord
- bank statements for the most recent previous THREE months
- documentation to support the request for funds, e.g. print out of a textbook quote or quote from external supplier, including prices (textbook quotes can be obtained from the ).
What happens if I fail to repay my loan?
If you fail to repay the loan as agreed then UniSQ may:
- have your final grades for courses withheld
- have your Academic Transcripts withheld
- prevent you from graduating
- prevent you from adding courses for future semesters
- have courses deleted in which you are already enrolled for future semesters
- place the debt in the hands of the University's debt collection agency.
Review of decision
If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of your application, you may request a review of the decision with the . must be submitted in writing within 20 days of the date stated in the email advising the outcome of the application.
